Steven Curtis Chapman and Michael W. Smith In Concert!

Last Thursday, Elizabeth and I drove 2 1/2 hours on a school night to hear Stephen Curtis Chapman and Michael W. Smith do a concert near Pontiac, MI. For those of you who know the venue, it was the former Pine Knob. Great outdoor concert venue. We were fortunate to have 3rd row seats.
I was very touched by SCC's part of the concert. He talked about his family, the grief they are experiencing with the death of Maria, the healing that continues to occur, and the grace of God that gives them a new hope every day. Stephen was not the usual jovial self that I have seen in previous concerts, but he provided an evening that was very meaningful using every verse, song, and word to honor the God who sustains us through the deep valleys. He did "cut loose" at the end with Dive. And his biggest smile of the night was when he introduced his son, Caleb.

Cinderella, Yours, and When Love Takes You In were especially meaningful. Elizabeth and I could only think of our precious little Lydia Mei throughout the night and how the testimony of the Chapmans was so instrumental in bringing her home.

The second half of the evening was spent with Michael W. Smith. What an incredible witness he is as well. He spoke of being so In Love with God, and coming to the realization that God does not only love him, but is fond of him. He sang a few songs from his soon to be released album, as well as the incredible worship songs he does. He even sang Friends...and for all my friends who are reading this, "friends are friends forever, when the Lord is the Lord of them..." Awesome worship night. And a VVVERYY late night....we arrived home at 1:47 am! Worth it? You bet!

Steven Curtis Chapman was on CBS This Morning today (Wednesday, Sept. 10)....here is the link:

I wish I could have went with you both! So very sad. As you know, our testimony is the same as yours about SCC concerts! Sounds like a great night!
