Saturday, 2/23 In Guangzhou

In the morning, we went with the group to the Medical Exam needed for the American Visas. By this time, our group was joined by 4 other families adopting special needs children from other provinces. We have such a great group! Each family adds to the journey and the memory!

Lydia Mei saw an Ear/Nose/Throat specialist (no ear infection?!?!), was weighed and measured (only 16.25 lbs), and a generalist (pediatrician?). Even though she had a documented fever, they said she was not sick. Lydia Mei certainly did not feel well and looked sick. Thank goodness for baby tylenol and motrin!

During the afternoon, we were able to get a "free" stroller rental because we had some laundry sent out from a local shop. Lydia Mei seemed to enjoy the stroller ride around Guangzhou.

Guangzhou, specifically Shamian Island, where the White Swan Hotel is located, is a breath of fresh air in a busy, heavily populated city. This little island sits in the Pearl River and used to be under the control of the British and French. The architecture reflects this! There are parks, tree lined streets with boulevards, many shops that cater to adoptive parents (all Americans adopting need to go through the American Consulate in Guangzhou before returning to the States), and a STARBUCKS!!!!
